Our Coaches
Meet the Two Birds team! Our coaches personify what we are about at Two Birds; a friendly, knowledgeable and supportive bunch that love to train, learn and laugh! Nothing worse than a drill sergeant of a coach who never cracks a smile!
Danny Stevenson – Owner and Head Coach
Two Birds is my baby and approaching our 6th year as a business and transforming lives through movement, community and tapping into everyone’s unrealised potential, I couldn’t be prouder!
Everyone that steps through our doors gets the same warm welcome and I’m so grateful for everyone who trains at TB, supports the brand and shouts about our community in Glasgow and beyond.
I’ve lost a hair or a two in the process mind you but my pursuit to bring the soundest bunch of strong and inspiring humans together at TB has been worth every long day’s graft. I love being a Dad to my two beautiful girls, music, cooking and connecting people in business and life!
Mhairi Clydesdale – Head Coach
Hype queen and self-proclaimed best dancer in the gym.
I LOVE coaching the troops at Two Birds. The members are the best thing about this gym. Coming in I was a little worried I might not be accepted too well with there already being a strong team relationship within the gym, but they welcomed me with open arms and brilliant chat. Since then, it’s only gotten better. With more members joining us I try to extend the same acceptance and kindness that the OGs showed me.
I’ll admit it, I’m quite a competitive person and would definitely call myself a ‘Jack of all trades.’ I’ve competed in many sports all throughout my life, including gymnastics, running and karate, and have all led me to my passion for CrossFit and functional fitness. I enjoy using the skills and experience I’ve gained over the years to help build confidence in the gym and create fun, dynamic and effective training sessions. I’ve learned a lot over the years from dotting about in different sports and that’s definitely helped my knowledge with different humans’ goals and abilities. My main goal for coaching is to make everyone feel like they can train, for whatever reason, and enjoy it. That’s what initially drew me to Two Birds. Their outlook towards training resonates with my own values and it’s great to know we all share that same goal.
Ryan Mcleod – Head Coach
When I’m not lifting heavy weights or making sarcastic remarks about my PBs, you’ll find me chucking barbells about the gym.
My passion? Olympic weightlifting – because nothing says “I’ve got goals” like throwing a barbell overhead in a graceful (okay, maybe not always graceful) display of strength. I also dabble in bodybuilding to keep my muscles confused and occasionally drop into CrossFit just to remind myself I can do burpees, but I choose not to. When I’m not working out, I’m probably geeking out over coffee, or perfecting my post-lifting snack routine. (Pro tip: it’s always more protein than you think.) Tuna Pasta has a special place in my heart and will be consumed on a daily basis.
The best part about Two Birds? It’s a place where everyone, from beginners to seasoned lifters, feels like part of the family. We cheer each other on, make bad jokes, and get stronger together.
